People aren’t exactly lining up to watch the Democrats National Convention on TV this week. Ratings for convention in which Joe Biden will accept the party’s nomination from his basement are waaaaaaaay down compared to 2016.
We realize that you probably might not tune in along with tens of other people to see what happens in this virtual and literal Schiff-show, because the excitement is probably just too much to handle.
So, we’ll be covering the blow-by-blow highlights right here, and focusing on items that the mainstream professional media professionals of professionalism and media stuff might have missed. Such as Day 1 of this exciting convention, when Michelle Obama predictably attacked President Trump.
People who don’t like Michelle Obama much—that would be about every conservative that ever lived—remember her astonishing remarks during a Milwaukee campaign stop. “People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and … for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”
America-hating Michelle Obama’s main claim to fame, prominence, and the good life are a result of her marriage to a President who was elected not on his qualifications, but because of his race and the promise of change it represented. Voters overlooked the fact that he was under qualified, and everyone hoped for a new beginning–someone who could help heal the racial rawness that has been just beneath the surface in American culture and politics.
Instead, we got a President who seemed less proud of his country than his wife claimed to be. We remember his overseas “bash America” tour where he apologized over and over for our country being the economic and military bastion against those who hate freedom and silence women.
Michelle’s speech focused mainly on empathy. She claims President Trump lacks it and only Democrats have it. You have to walk a mile in another’s shoes, she pontificated. President Trump’s idea of empathy is giving people jobs and creating a robust economy in which people of every race do better. He just doesn’t understand rioting, destruction of public order, and defunding the police.
Day two of the DNC showcased a number of “Republicans” who have walked away from the party. John Kasich, the former Governor of Ohio and 2016 Republican opponent of President Trump got a coveted speaking slot. But the biggest name speaker was retired General Colin Powell who claims to be a Republican but voted for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the last elections.
When asked why an avowed Republican would support Democrat presidential nominees for three straight elections he insisted, “I’m still a Republican because I believe in a strong defense, because I believe in the entrepreneurial spirit that is so typical of the Republican Party in the past. But I’m having difficulty with the party now.”
Five years later, the difficulty continues. Apparently banking on his credentials as a career soldier, not far into his speech, Powell said this about Joe Biden, “Our country needs a commander in chief who takes care of our troops in the same way he would his own family.”
Oh, we get it, General. Joe Biden took care of his disgraced Navy dropoutson Hunter with a Chinese deal that can only be characterized as nepotism.
Powell also forgot to remember that President Trump essentially carried the military vote in 2016, and he still remains popular. According to the Military Times, “…Trump’s numbers among the military have remained remarkably consistent during his four-year presidency…”
Why else would a proud Republican and former diplomat support Joe Biden? Well, “because on Day One he will restore America’s leadership and our moral authority.”
Would that be by shipping the Iranian mullahs another $10 billion? Maybe we should help our NATO allies out by subsidizing their defense costs (again). Apparently, Powell longs for the days when “moral authority” was an unearned Nobel Peace Prize to newly elected Barack Obama, whom the European liberal elite just loved, loved, loved.
As further evidence that Colin Powell is a Democrat pretending to be a friendly Republican, he said, “Today, we are a country divided, and we have a president doing everything in his power to make it that way and keep us that way.”
That evidence is that Democrats always accuse their opponents of doing exactly what Democrats do. Is there anything more divisive than the Democrat Speaker of the House tearing up the President’s State of the Union Address following the President’s recognition of great American citizens? When was the last time we heard Senator Chuck Schumer say anything that remotely approached an effort to unite us?
Colin Powell longs for the good old days: “What a difference it will make to have a president who unites us, who restores our strength and our soul.”
Earth to Colin Powell: We weren’t united under Obama. There were thousands of us who were upset and disillusioned with him, but the Democrat supporting media just didn’t show our rallies and run interviews where we voiced our displeasure.
And Joe Biden couldn’t unite anyone, because he wants to please everyone. Kamala Harris is the third most liberal U.S. Senator, just behind Socialist Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. She is the toxic effluent of San Francisco politics.
The upcoming election is not about unity. It is about defeating socialists who will destroy our freedoms and trash our Constitution. It is about retaining the power to improve the lives of normal Americans.
President Trump knows that. That’s the America President Trump will lead when reelected.
