September Will Feature the Biggest Spending Cut in US Government History

Greenville, S.C., USA - October 15 2020: Donald Trump walking outdoors, raising his fist in a gesture of triumph

The Democrats were outmaneuvered by Republicans last Friday and tricked into passing the Continuing Resolution that funds the US Government at Joe Biden’s 2024 funding levels.

Many conservatives are harumphing over the enormous expense that the CR doles out with zero DOGE cuts included. That’s not President Trump’s fault, however. He urged Republicans to sort the funding out back in January and they failed by passing a stopgap bill that only funded government through March 14th.

The point about this that everyone is missing is that under the congressional calendar, President Trump is about to dish out the largest cut in federal spending in world history in September.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) are both huffing and puffing about the large expense of the CR. Their point is moot. They can beat their chests all they want, but there is no possible way that they would get the Democrats to support the DOGE cuts. There’s no way to get past the 60-vote filibuster when you’re talking about a CR.

Because House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) wimped out in January and passed a stopgap funding bill—against President Trump’s wishes—the Senate is now having to waste time with this CR just to keep the government open. So, it fully funds everything at Biden spending levels. That’s the only way to get a CR passed.

The budget reconciliation process that happens after this will take place around the first week of May. According to Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), who sits on the House Appropriations Committee, the budget reconciliation will feature $2 trillion in mandatory spending cuts. That will get us back to pre-COVID spending levels.

The Senate Democrats cannot filibuster the budget reconciliation process. There’s no way they can stop it from happening. And no Republican, including Thomas Massie and Rand Paul, will have any excuse for opposing it.

After that, President Trump’s discretionary budget for 2026 will be passed at the end of September. That will also be passed through reconciliation. It can’t be stopped by the filibuster. That budget will include deep—DEEP—cuts on the fraud, waste, and abuse exposed by DOGE.

Congress could have been doing this now if they had listened to President Trump before he was sworn in on January 20th. They wimped out, so here we are. Rep. Massie and Sen. Paul can have their little protest votes, but what’s their alternative plan? They can’t overcome the Democrats’ filibuster on cloture on a CR, but they’re just voting against it anyway and ignoring the massive cuts that can be implemented through budget reconciliation.

President Trump’s economic plans are already showing early signs of success.

The price of eggs has dropped by about $2 per dozen at the grocery store. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when the federal government stops needlessly killing all the chickens.

The price of fuel has dropped even though America hasn’t even really started to ramp up production. That happened because President Trump talked Saudi Arabia and the OPEC countries into increasing supply after Joe Biden managed to piss them all off.

America added 10,000 new manufacturing jobs during Trump’s first month in office after bleeding jobs for four straight years under Joe Biden. Inflation has ticked down. Illegal border crossings have been cut to basically zero. None of the “experts” thought any of that was possible.

It’s astonishing to many people that some Republicans in Congress still don’t think that Donald Trump knows what he’s doing. He’s already outperformed everyone’s expectations and he’s only been in office for two months. It’s not as if he can turn things around overnight after the unelected Biden regime spent four years wrecking the country.

Reciprocal tariffs go into effect against every country starting on April 2nd. That’s going to translate into a massive jobs boom in America and trade parity with other nations for the first time since World War II.

Translation: You’re getting a big tax cut in 2026.

America’s best days are still ahead of us and Donald Trump is setting us on the path to prosperity for generations to come. Whining about a CR that should have been passed in January isn’t accomplishing anything.
