Continuing a trend that has rapidly accelerated under Joe Biden’s so-called “leadership,” another longtime Democrat has DEFECTED from the Democratic party, switching over to the Republican party.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, like the majority of Americans, believes that the radicalized left-wing party has been DESTROYING America and he wants no part of it.
Johnson wrote in the Wall Street Journal that U.S. “cities need Republicans” and he wants to be part of the solution rather than the problem.
Declaring that he has decided to become a Republican, Johnson wrote that “the future of America’s great urban centers depends on the willingness of the nation’s mayors to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism.”
He added that America is in a tough spot right now and needs real policies that can help the country rather than the left-wing pandering that Democrats are known for.
“Our cities desperately need the genuine commitment to these principles (as opposed to the inconsistent, poll-driven commitment of many Democrats) that has long been a defining characteristic of the GOP.”
Johnson continued, “Today I am changing my party affiliation. Next spring, I will be voting in the Republican primary. When my career in elected office ends in 2027 on the inauguration of my successor as mayor, I will leave office as a Republican.”
While the Democrats have been pushing for absurd things like defunding the police over the years, Johnson has pushed back against their insane agenda and now he’s exposing them while revealing his decision to switch parties.
“Unfortunately, many of our cities are in disarray,” Johnson wrote, adding that it’s been mostly Democrat leaders who have done this.
“Mayors and other local elected officials have failed to make public safety a priority or to exercise fiscal restraint. Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than as havens for opportunity and free enterprise.”
Continuing to slam his former party, Johnson pointed out that they are too obsessed with “virtue signaling—proposing half-baked government programs that aim to solve every single societal ill—and on finding new ways to thumb their noses at Republicans at the state or federal level. Enough. This makes for good headlines, but not for safer, stronger, more vibrant cities.”
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott celebrated Johnson’s decision to join GOP, writing that “Texas is getting more Red every day. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson switches to Republican Party. He’s pro law enforcement & won’t tolerate leftist agendas. Two of the 10 largest cities in America now have Republican Mayors & they are both in Texas.”

Democrats all over the country have been awakening to the truth that their party has been consumed by an anti-American ideology and Joe Biden has only made it worse.
