As impeachment calls grow louder and more frequent, you might be a bit worried about our country and the fate of President Trump. It’s a fair concern. He’s been an amazing leader so far, and Democrats are definitely spiteful and short-sighted enough to try and abuse their power to force the President out of office.
It’s incredibly unlikely that the Republican Senate would allow this to happen, but worrying about what Democrats will do next is always reasonable.
Still, it’s important to stop and look past the narrative. Rabid Democrats might have a majority in the House, but they really don’t control this country, and their grip is slipping.
A Dying Narrative
The liberal media is on their last legs. They’re still desperately trying to convince us that President Trump is evil. While we’ve all noticed that the Russia collusion story was the last thing they had to offer, they aren’t ready to give up yet.
Some are still pushing collusion and cover up stories. Others are sticking to obstruction. All of them are suggesting that impeachment is the right course.
There’s even an article from the New York Times suggesting that we should impeach the President on grounds of bigotry. Seriously.
Here’s the thing. Americans are fully awake now. We aren’t letting media narratives dictate our opinions anymore, and the desperate attempts by the media to maintain influence have led to some interesting developments.
While media trust is circling the drain, the country is returning to conservatism wholesale. Millennials are now polling more conservative than liberal. Generation Z started at about even, and they’re trending in a conservative direction too. Even among Democrats, more than half are deeply unhappy with the direction of the party’s platform.
Harvard’s New Poll
It’s a little early to completely celebrate. Liberalism is declining, but it isn’t dead. Collegiate influence is probably the single biggest reason for that. The elitism of colleges is inextricably intertwined with liberalism, and that isn’t going to be changing overnight.
Among colleges, the ultimate bastion of liberalism is still Harvard. So, when Harvard conducts a poll that suggests Trump is winning, you know it’s legitimate.
And, that’s exactly what happened. Harvard’s latest poll was run the last two days of May. This is a poll that is completely post Mueller’s report. Its post Democratic calls for impeachment. Its post any recent mud you could even imagine throwing at President Trump.
This very recent, very liberal poll found Trump’s approval rating to be 48 percent. That’s the highest he has ever scored on a liberal poll.
The absolute worst that Harvard can do now is to show a poll where, within the margin of error, President Trump has a 50-percent approval rating.
This is a big deal, and there are two huge takeaways. The first is that President Trump is on the fast track towards re-election. If he polled this well with Harvard the day before the election in 2020, he would win in a landslide.
It wouldn’t be limited to an electoral landslide either. There is no candidate who can win a majority vote against Donald Trump with this level of approval in a staunchly liberal poll.
The second takeaway is slightly less positive and much more interesting. Among those who approved of President Trump in Harvard’s poll, opinions were evenly split. Half strongly approved and half somewhat approved.
That actually makes a lot of sense. You’re seeing Americans from all backgrounds acknowledge that Trump policy is working and that we’re all better off. There’s still plenty of room to nitpick the policy. That’s always true in politics.
On the other side, disapproval of the President is pretty rabid. Only 15 percent of respondents somewhat disapprove of our Commander in Chief. This is expected, and it highlights something important.
At this stage, disapproving of President Trump requires rabid hatred. Only those who can completely blind themselves in their hatred are able to claim that he has been objectively bad for our country. Anyone who is rational enough to acknowledge the objective improvements our country has seen over the past two years is forced to give the President an approving score.
That’s what we’re up against. A full 37 percent of this country is so deranged in their hatred of President Trump that they can’t see reality. These are the people who insist that there is no border crisis. These are people who will burn our country to the ground in order to spite a President they don’t like.
It’s a dangerous mentality, and it’s where we need to focus our effort. The best thing to do for our country, at this point, is to defuse the rabid 37 percent. It won’t be easy, but they are the obstacle holding our country back.
