Has something gone horribly wrong in Kentucky? Other than those embarrassing, razor-thin Bill Clinton victories in 1992 and 1996, Kentucky has been a reliably red state since 1980. Donald Trump trounced Joe Biden in Kentucky in 2020 with 62% of the vote. He pummeled the drunken sorority girl in 2024 with 64%. So, how has Kentucky ended up with such terrible, anti-Trump, anti-MAGA politicians at the national level? Mitch McConnell? Rand Paul? Thomas Massie? What in the world is going on with these guys?
Senator Rand Paul’s little insurrection against President Trump failed in the US Senate late last week, fortunately. Paul was pushing a resolution to strip away the president’s ability to impose tariffs on cheating countries. Constitutional scholars Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) joined Paul in his tiny insurrection when it came time to vote.
All 46 Democrats voted with Rand Paul against President Trump. The other 49 Republicans voted against Rand Paul, making it a 49-49 vote. Vice President JD Vance was fortunately in attendance to cast the tie-breaking vote.
Rep. Thomas Massie voted against the budget resolution last month that gave President Trump the wiggle room to impose major tax cuts in the real budget, which comes out in August. The Ukrainian foreigner in Congress, Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN), was the only other Republican to vote against it (because the resolution cut funding for Biden’s war in Ukraine).
Massie has been a constant thorn in President Trump’s side for inexplicable reasons. Remember when he did that high-and-mighty interview with Tucker Carlson and claimed that he was the only Member of Congress who isn’t financed by Israel?
Do yourself a favor. Run a quick Google search to find out who Thomas Massie’s top donor and political benefactor is. You’ll get a good laugh out of it.
And Mitch McConnell? Ugh. We could go on for hours with all the stories of how many times he has betrayed conservative voters.
The good news is that McConnell has glitched out too many times due to age-related mental decline, so he’s retiring in 2026 if he manages to live that long. The bad news is that a whisper campaign to find McConnell’s US Senate replacement is underway… and they’re pushing a CNN talking head on the people of Kentucky.
If you’ve spent any time at all online, you’re probably familiar with CNN’s Scott Jennings. The Gateway Pundit breathlessly posts updates on Jennings every time he gets into an argument with some panel of liberals on CNN that we didn’t watch. His clips go viral on social media all the time, like this one:
Just this week, judges (carefully shopped by Democrats) have ruled Trump may not:
-Deport illegal alien gang members
-Require voters to prove they're citizens
-Defund sanctuary cities that violate federal lawThe plan is obvious: Run out the clock on the Trump presidency. pic.twitter.com/MFuGXIMtCV

That’s the guy who the hidden people behind the curtain want to run for Senate in Kentucky in 2026 to replace Mitch McConnell.
“He’s got great name recognition and he’s super-popular! Yay! Scott Jennings!”
Scott Jennings talks a good game when he’s on TV. But has anyone looked into his background? Who is this guy?
Jennings served as an advisor to George W. Bush’s campaigns in 2000 and 2004. Bush rewarded Jennings for this by appointing him as the special assistant to the president and deputy director of political affairs in 2006.
Uh… okaaaay… not getting a real strong MAGA vibe from Mr. Jennings just yet.
Scott Jennings also worked on Mitch McConnell’s US Senate campaigns in 2002, 2008, and 2014. He didn’t work for McConnell’s 2020 campaign because by then, Scott Jennings had been appointed to the editorial board of that noted conservative newspaper, the Los Angeles Times! He’s said to be one of McConnell’s closest advisors to this day.
In other words, back when Mitch McConnell was mouthing off about how he wanted to punch Tea Party voters in the face for their opposition to Obamacare, Scott Jennings was one of the people who told him to say that.
Oh, and did you know that Scott Jennings won an award from the Associated Press for his reporting in Louisville, KY? It’s true! The AP doesn’t exactly hand those out like candy to conservatives.
Jennings also launched a podcast in 2022 called Flyover Country with Scott Jennings. We’re guessing that you’ve probably never listened to it, since Mitch McConnell is a regular guest of Jennings on the show.
That’s the planned replacement for Mitch McConnell in Kentucky. He’s a Mitch McConnell clone who is now actively courting President Trump’s endorsement for the US Senate.
I can’t even.
Kentucky, can’t you do better than this?
