The internet almost caught on fire yesterday over viral rumors that Mark Meadows, former Chief of Staff to President Donald Trump, had worn a wire for the FBI to spy on his former boss while in office.
Before believing this fairytale, everyone should remember that we are witnessing yet another whole-of-government effort to stop President Trump from winning again in 2024. The trials against President Trump on fake charges are the Russia collusion hoax of this election cycle. The FBI, the CIA, the Department of Justice, and other players are pulling the strings and fabricating this new, all-encompassing hoax.
Special prosecutor Jack Smith obtained a gag order against President Trump in Judge Tanya Chutkan’s courtroom in the DC/January 6th case. She’s the judge who worked at the same law firm as Hunter Biden for a time, because you can’t even make this stuff up.
Chutkan’s initial gag order against Trump was so outrageous that the communists at the ACLU sided with Trump. They filed a friend-of-the-court brief recommending that the gag order be lifted, because it’s such an obvious threat to the First Amendment to silence the leading candidate in the 2024 election.
When you can’t even get the ACLU to agree with your gag order, you’ve probably gone too far.
Chutkan issued a temporary stay against her own gag order. This week, while the gag order was lifted, the Mark Meadows story began. Initially, it was simply claimed that he was turning against Trump and would plead guilty to lesser charges in the Georgia case in exchange for his testimony.
In the midst of those rumors, Trump issued a statement on Truth Social. We won’t quote the whole thing, but Trump basically said that he didn’t know whether it was true or not. He remarked that some people are just too cowardly to fight the system, and you never know what someone is going to do in these situations.
Immediately after Trump wrote that statement, Jack Smith ran huffing and puffing back into Chutkan’s courtroom and issued a new demand that Trump be placed under an even stricter gag order. Smith’s filing says that he wants the conditions of President Trump’s release to be modified, “by clarifying that the existing condition barring communication with witnesses about the facts of the case includes indirect messages to witnesses made publicly on social media or in speeches.”
“In the few days since the administrative order has been in place,” continued Smith’s request, “the defendant has returned to the very sort of targeting that the Order prohibits, including attempting to intimidate and influence foreseeable witnesses, and commenting on the substance of their testimony.”
Smith is claiming that Trump attempted to intimidate Mark Meadows by commenting on the biggest story in the news cycle.
The day after Smith filed that motion requesting a stricter gag order on a former president, the rumor that Mark Meadows had worn a wire during the Trump presidency as an FBI informant came out.
Does everyone see what’s happening here?
Smith’s office leaked the first story claiming that Mark Meadows had “flipped” to the media. Trump commented on that story. Smith has now leaked a second fake news story, claiming that Mark Meadows wore a wire while President Trump was in office, so the FBI could spy on him.
Smith is baiting President Trump with these viral fake news leaks. If he can bait Trump into violating the terms of an outlandish gag order, he can have Hunter Biden’s former co-worker, Judge Chutkan, jail President Trump until the election next year.
I don’t think the Mark Meadows story is true, but pause to consider the implications of such a reckless leak. If it were true, and the White House Chief of Staff really did wear a wire so the FBI could spy on the president, that’s a scandal that’s 10,000 times worse than Watergate. People in charge at the FBI would have to be hanged for treason, and the bureau would need to be completely abolished.
Based on Meadows’ text message exchanges with Ginnie Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, back on January 6th, it’s pretty obvious that Meadows wasn’t spying for the FBI. Jack Smith will say that anyway, because the Deep State is willing to say or do anything to stop President Trump.
