Just when we thought the GOP had finally gotten the message after the 2024 election—close the border, deport illegals, and put Americans first—a pack of Republican lawmakers just spit in the base’s face.
Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), backed by a group of donor-friendly “Republicans,” is pushing a sweeping mass amnesty bill disguised under the Orwellian label of “The DIGNITY Act.”
The pitch? Let more than 10 million illegal aliens stay in the U.S. and hand them work permits—because apparently, the party of law and order now thinks “earning legal status” is a divine right. The bill promises to bless lawbreakers with legal protections, job opportunities, and even the ability to travel internationally. In other words: everything short of a welcome basket and a voter registration form.
And here’s the kicker—Rep. Salazar actually tried to guilt President Trump into supporting the amnesty by invoking God.
“The same God who saved you from death in Pennsylvania one year ago and who put your back in the Oval Office against all odds, is the same God Almighty who millions and millions are begging to for some type of dignity,” Salazar preached.

Let’s be clear: this is amnesty with a fake mustache. Congresswoman Salazar insists it’s not amnesty, but the bill does exactly what amnesty does—keeps illegal immigrants in the country and rewards them for breaking the law.
And she’s not alone. Other so-called Republicans standing behind this betrayal include:
- Mike Lawler (R-NY)
- David Valadao (R-CA)
- Dan Newhouse (R-WA)
- Mike Kelly (R-PA)
- Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA)
- Gabe Evans (R-CO)
- Marlin Stutzman (R-IN)
- Don Bacon (R-NE)
- Young Kim (R-CA)
You’d think Democrats wrote the bill, but nope—this comes from Republicans who were literally elected on a secure border, deportation, and America First jobs agenda. Now they’re trying to force-feed Trump a bill that would do the opposite—and daring to use God as the spoon.
Rep. Salazar even said the quiet part out loud at her press conference:
“Yes, they broke the law, but someone gave them a job because they needed those workers.”
Let’s translate that: “Sure, it’s illegal, but it helps the donor class, so it’s fine.”
Even worse, her office issued a press release that sounded like a joint statement with the DNC:
“Most undocumented individuals are not seeking citizenship at all costs, but rather the dignity of living and working legally, contributing to society, paying taxes…”
How noble. How scripted. How completely disconnected from the American workers who get undercut on wages because of this exact scheme.
The economic reality? These RINOs are helping big ag donors and corporate lobbyists keep wages low, flood the labor market, and replace American workers with cheaper, illegal labor. That’s not compassion. That’s betrayal with a press release.
And this betrayal is happening while Trump is back in the White House. The question now is: will he shut this down? Or will the RINO wing of the party hijack his agenda again?
