Obama Backs White Democrat Over Black Republican Woman

Picture this: Barack Obama, the man who once told Black men it was their moral duty to vote for Kamala Harris because she’s a Black woman, is now telling Virginians to vote for a white Democrat running against a Black Republican woman. You can’t make this stuff up. It’s like lecturing your kids about eating their vegetables, then sneaking off to devour a Big Mac in the garage. Hypocrisy, thy name is Obama.

The former president is stumping for Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic candidate for governor in Virginia. Spanberger, a former congresswoman with the charisma of beige wallpaper, was once considered a shoo-in. But now she’s flailing, hemorrhaging support, and begging for backup as her Republican opponent, Winsome Earle-Sears—a Black woman and current lieutenant governor—closes in fast. So who do the Democrats call? The guy with the smooth voice and short memory: Barack Obama.

Let’s rewind to 2024. Obama took to the airwaves and the campaign trail to scold Black men for not jumping on the Kamala Harris bandwagon. Remember that? He basically said, “Hey, if you don’t support her, it’s because you have some kind of problem with strong Black women.” Fast forward one year, and now he’s standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Spanberger, trying to knock off the first Black woman ever elected statewide in Virginia. Apparently, representation only counts when the D next to the name is more important than the R—or the skin color.

One Virginia voter nailed it in a viral TikTok: “I watched Obama sit there and chastise Black men saying, y’all don’t want to support this woman, but at the same time turn around, go to Virginia, and campaign against a real natural Black woman.” It’s the kind of clarity you won’t find in The New York Times op-ed pages: Obama’s color-coded concern only runs one way—blue.

And let’s not forget the NAACP, that once-proud civil rights organization now acting like the Democratic Party’s regional outreach team. They hosted an event featuring Spanberger but didn’t even invite Sears. Why? Because she’s the wrong kind of Black woman—independent, conservative, and not interested in toeing the party line. As one outraged Virginian put it, “They care more about Democrats than they do about Black people.” That’s a quote you won’t hear on CNN, but it’s ringing loud and clear in the streets of Richmond.

Spanberger’s campaign is in meltdown mode. Polls show the race tightening, and the Democrats are panicking. According to Winsome Sears herself, “If Abigail really believed those polls, she wouldn’t be flying in half the Democrat Party to save her.” And she’s right. You don’t call in Obama unless your campaign is on life support and you’re fresh out of ideas.

Let’s be honest: this isn’t about race, it’s about power. The Democrats don’t care if you’re Black, brown, purple, or polka-dotted—if you’re not going to push their agenda, you’re expendable. Winsome Sears believes in school choice, law and order, and balancing the budget. Spanberger believes in whatever poll-tested slogan keeps her donors happy. That’s the real reason Obama showed up—it’s not about unity or diversity. It’s about control.

So now Virginia voters are watching the Democrats twist themselves into knots, trying to explain how it’s “historic” to support Kamala Harris because she’s Black, but totally fine to crush Winsome Sears because she’s not their kind of Black. The double standard is glaring, and the voters know it.

The question isn’t whether Spanberger can survive November. The real question is: how many more times can Democrats play the identity card before it maxes out?
