Just when you thought the Russiagate circus couldn’t get more corrupt, two of former President Barack Obama’s top intelligence brass—John Brennan and James Comey—are now under criminal investigation for their roles in the made-up Trump-Russia collusion hoax. These two didn’t just bend the rules… they lit the rulebook on fire in a last-ditch effort to sabotage Donald Trump before he even took office.
Based on newly declassified intelligence reports from the original investigation, both men are being scrutinized for using their positions to launch a politically motivated attack against incoming President Donald Trump in the final weeks of 2016.
According to official documents, Comey and Brennan pushed forward with an intelligence assessment suggesting Trump may have colluded with Vladimir Putin to win the 2016 election—despite knowing that the foundation of that claim, the infamous Steele Dossier, was unverified political opposition research.
According to Fox News, Comey and Brennan are both now under active criminal investigation by the FBI for their role in the Russiagate hoax, as well as lying to Congress about it.
“CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence of wrongdoing by Brennan to FBI Director Kash Patel for potential prosecution,” Fox News reported. “A criminal investigation into Brennan was opened and is underway. DOJ sources added that an investigation into Comey is also underway.”
Brennan, for his part, testified before Congress in 2023 that he didn’t support including the Steele Dossier in the Trump-Russia assessment. That was a lie. We now have Brennan’s own email trail, proving he pushed for the unverified document to be included. Lying to Congress is a federal crime, punishable by up to eight years in prison.
The Steele Dossier, as we now know, was bankrolled by Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign—with help from James Comey’s FBI. The FBI was warned early on by Steele’s own subsource, Igor Danchenko, that the claims in the dossier were unreliable. That warning came in January 2017—before the dossier was used to renew FISA warrants to spy on Trump campaign associate Carter Page. In other words, the FBI kept using bad intel even after confirming it was junk.
And it gets worse.
Newly declassified emails show that in December 2016, the CIA’s deputy director warned Brennan that including the Steele Dossier would “jeopardize the credibility of the entire [investigation].” Brennan ignored that advice and reportedly insisted it be part of the official assessment presented to Trump and the public.
Meanwhile, Brennan had already briefed the White House in July 2016 that Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to vilify Donald Trump by tying him to Russia—this came from declassified notes released by DNI John Ratcliffe in 2020. So Brennan knew where the political hit job started… and still helped it along.
And that wasn’t the last time Brennan bent reality to fit the Democrat narrative. After trying to kneecap Trump with a fake Russia scandal in 2016, Brennan returned in 2020 as one of the 51 intelligence officials who signed a letter falsely labeling the Hunter Biden laptop as “Russian disinformation”—a move designed to protect Joe Biden during his presidential campaign. Testimony from former CIA official Michael Morrell later revealed that Brennan was actively involved in organizing that letter.
Comey’s actions weren’t any better. In January 2017, two weeks before Trump’s inauguration, Comey participated in a high-level briefing for the president-elect—then pulled him aside afterward to privately inform him about the Steele Dossier. Trump later said he believed this was an attempt at blackmail—a threat from the FBI Director.
And let’s not forget: the Justice Department’s own Inspector General released a report in 2019 showing at least 17 “significant errors and omissions” in the FBI’s FISA applications to spy on Trump campaign figures. These “errors” just happened to always hurt Trump—never Hillary Clinton. Among the errors: withholding exculpatory evidence and failing to mention Steele’s political motivations. Comey was at the top of the bureau when it all happened.
So no, this wasn’t just sloppy intel work. This was targeted, strategic, and weaponized. These two former intel leaders put their hatred for Donald Trump on full display in late 2016 and used every tool available to try to first discredit him before the election—and then undermine his presidency after he won.
The investigations into Comey and Brennan are long overdue. But if justice is ever going to mean anything again in Washington, they can’t just be investigated. They need to be held accountable.
