President Donald Trump has driven another nail in the coffin of the global warming boondoggle. The massive Green New Scam, which Joe Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom tried to ram down the throats of all Americans, drove up the price of new cars in America by 25% in just four years. Now that President Trump has cleaned up most of Joe Biden’s foreign policy messes (Ukraine still pending), he is turning his full attention to the affordability crisis that Biden and Newsom worked together on.
First, President Trump announced the total elimination of Biden’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for manufactured cars and trucks. This was part of the globalist plan to mandate stupid electric cars for everyone, even though most consumers hate EVs and want nothing to do with them. Biden’s CAFÉ standard set ridiculous mandates for electric vehicles and would have forced people to stop buying regular gas-powered cars.
Americans would have still been allowed to own gas-powered cars. But starting in the 2030s, they would have been penalized with a massive “global warming tax” just for owning them.
Biden’s CAFE standards imposed a large surcharge on every large vehicle which is actually popular with Americans. This included work trucks, SUVs, and anything with a large gas- or diesel-powered engine.
Access to transportation is a vital part of American life. It’s hard to believe that Biden drove up the price of vehicles by 25% while he was in office, all to “fight” the fake and nonexistent problem of global warming. Most Gen Z workers who are just starting their careers can no longer afford a car in America. Many middle class families have to shop for used cars now, because they can no longer afford new models.
That all ends now, thanks to President Trump abolishing Biden’s CAFE standards.
Another huge cost-of-living increase for Americans was Gavin Newsom’s electric vehicle mandate in California. Newsom wanted to force all gas-powered vehicles off the market in his state by 2035. Under his part of the Green New Scam, 35% of all new vehicle sales in California were supposed to be EVs by next year.
This wasn’t just a problem for California drivers. Newsom’s plan involved getting rid of all fuel stations in California. If you’re one of the 2 million non-Californians who come to the state every year to vacation or visit relatives, you would be forced to buy or rent an EV. You wouldn’t be able to drive your gas-powered car into California, because there would be nowhere to fuel up.
Newsom’s mandates would have forced non-Californians to resort to stupid electric vehicles that most Americans don’t want. EV sales have even started to fall in California, despite Newsom’s mandates.
Everyone saw what happened in Pacific Palisades when Newsom allowed the city to burn down. Electric car owners had to abandon their vehicles on the clogged freeways and run for their lives after their EV batteries died. Emergency crews then bulldozed the EVs out of the way to try to fight the fires.
All those EVs were destroyed. People in gas-powered cars were able to escape. 18 people died in the fires. How many of those deaths were directly caused by Gavin Newsom’s global warming zealotry?
The good news is that on Wednesday, the US Senate passed a bill to abolish Gavin Newsom’s EV mandates. The bill had already passed the House. It had bipartisan support. Even some Democrats from California voted for it, because it makes no sense for one state to impose rules on vehicle consumers in other states.
That bill was sent to President Trump on Wednesday for him to sign. That’s great news because it’s now the law of the land. Some future Democrat won’t be able to overturn it with an executive order. Trump’s sensible, pro-American, pro-auto industry rules are now the law.
This was a crushing defeat for Gavin Newsom, who hopes to be your next president. It also demolishes another part of Joe Biden’s agenda to make every American financially poor and dependent on the government. Newsom is throwing a snit-fit and has already announced that he’s going to waste more taxpayer money in a lawsuit against Congress and President Trump.
Car prices are going to drop over the next two years because automakers are no longer forced to try to achieve unachievable emissions standards. Life is going to get more affordable for Americans. They just need to hang in there a little longer as President Trump turns things around!
