It’s hard to escape the feeling, especially after the past couple of months, that Donald Trump really is our last hope. I know it’s dangerous to put all your eggs in one basket like that, but who else do we have?
Who else will be as willing to stand up to the Deep State and The Swamp like Donald J. Trump? Maybe I’m being a bit fatalistic, but I’ve now sat through two FBI interviews since Joe Biden escalated his war on Trump supporters this past summer, and they’re calling me to do a third. While we do have some Trump-like figures on the right, I’m not so sure any of them represent the same kind of threat to the status quo like Trump does.
Biden’s war on Trump supporters actually started on his very first day in office—at his inauguration. Could there have been a more obvious clue that we just went through a coup than Biden being sworn in behind a razor-wire fence being guarded by 40,000 soldiers with rifles?
Joe Biden’s “shock and awe” operation against the peaceful election justice protesters of January 6th saw their homes raided by federal agents in armored vehicles and black helicopters. Many are still in jail to this day, never having gone to trial for ridiculous misdemeanor offenses like “parading through the Capitol.” They’re afforded fewer rights than Al Qaeda fighters being held in Guantanamo.
Things quieted down for a while after the January 6 raids had mostly concluded. So, why the sudden escalation that began in August? Seems obvious now: Donald Trump began dropping solid hints in June that he plans to run for reelection in 2024.
That caused Team Failure in the White House and the rest of the Deep State to freak out.
The Mar-a-Lago raid happened in early August. One month later, Joe Biden delivered his “Get MAGA Republicans” speech in front of a blood-red background. He declared all Trump supporters to be Nazi’s and enemies of the state.
Then, the FBI raided the homes of approximately 50 Trump associates to issue subpoenas for emails, phone records, text messages and anything else they could think of. Most of those people are in the fundraising and political consulting line of work, and I know a lot of them, having worked with them between 2012 and 2020.
The FBI contacted me the following morning, wanting to question me about my activities in 2016 and 2020. During one of my interrogations, an agent from the Austin field office of the FBI let it slip that they already had my emails (which is why I wasn’t subpoenaed, I guess – they already seized my communications without a warrant, or they got them from associates of mine they subpoenaed. Jerks.).
A few days later, three carloads of FBI agents surrounded Mike Lindell in a fast-food drive through and seized his cell phone.
This escalation is a federal declaration of war against Trump supporters. Donald Trump knows this, sees this, and is in the trenches with us. Which brings me back to my original point. Who else is there on the Republican bench that will fight back against the Deep State the way that Trump will?
Governor Kristi Noem? She cowered on the floor when confronted by the most disgusting and loathed demographic in the country – the child-grooming transgender lobby, which all normal and mentally healthy people despise.
Ted Cruz? He’s got some weird issues with Big Tech and the media right now. Everyone seems to think he’s smoking something.
Do you think Mike Pence would pardon all the January 6ers? Not a chance.
And Governor Ron DeSantis… well, okay, I’m going to say a couple of things now that some people won’t like. As I’ve said many times, I don’t like Ron DeSantis personally, but I think he’s an incredible politician and leader in many ways. He’s a great governor for the state of Florida, and I think he’ll make a great president in 2028.
But… DeSantis really could have done more about the Mar-a-Lago raid. The FBI conducted and unprecedented and illegal raid against the governor’s most famous citizen, who was innocent of any crime. The FBI rifled through Melania’s underwear closet, for Pete’s sake!
Governors have a lot more power than people seem to realize. DeSantis could have had the State Police round up everyone in that FBI office, escorted them to the South Carolina border, given them a swift kick in the rear end and told them to GTFO for pulling a stunt like that (or, he could have put them on a plane to Martha’s Vineyard, alternatively). He could have raised a huge stink. He could have called the leaders of the raid into his office and dressed them down in front of television cameras.
Instead… DeSantis issued a very brief, very weak statement. That doesn’t inspire confidence that Governor DeSantis is ready to take on the Deep State.
Donald Trump is ready. And right now, it looks like he’s our only hope.
