Biden Admin Unleashes Dangerous New “Climate” Restrictions On Pentagon

Joe Biden’s radical energy policies have affected every aspect of American life, and as it turns out, the military is not exempt.

Under the guise of fighting “climate change,” Biden has introduced a strict new set of rules to make life more difficult for the Pentagon.

The change requires federal contractors to disclose and reduce their CO2 emissions as well as climate financial risks. The rule would cover 5,766 contractors that have received at least $7.5 million from the feds in the prior year.

Smaller contractors are also required to publicly report their Scope 1 and 2 emissions which are those generated at their facilities and from the electricity and heating they use.

The larger firms are to estimate their “upstream and downstream” Scope 3 emissions which would mean they are responsible for determining the projected emissions produced by their customers and suppliers.

Large contractors are also required to publish annual climate disclosure and develop “science-based targets” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with the goals of the 2015 Paris agreement.

This change forces contractors of all sizes to prioritize climate change if they wish to do business with the federal government.

The change also applies to non-defense contractors, including pharmaceutical, shipping and tech companies.

The federal government currently administers $650 billion worth of annual contracts and this effort to prioritize CO2 reductions is an attempt by the Biden administration to leverage that purchasing power to force private companies to adopt their green energy practices – affecting tens of thousands of contractors.

“Public procurement can shift markets, drive innovation, and be a catalyst for adoption of new norms and global standards,” the rule change says. The climate conditions on contractors “will give visibility to major annual sources of GHG emissions and climate risks throughout the Federal supply chain and could, in turn, provide insights into the entire U.S. economy.”

The rule claims that federal contractors will benefit from climate mandates by “increasing senior management attention and funding for investing in GHG reduction projects.”

The absurd change comes after the U.S. has depleted its arms stockpiles and will be forced to procure more.

However, the climate prioritization effort will force federal contractors to increase prices in order to keep up with the strict climate demands now associated with doing business with the U.S. government.

On top of that, the change could require weapons manufactures to redesign their systems altogether in order to remain in compliance. This redesign could very well lower the quality of U.S. military weaponry, or open the U.S. up to more vulnerabilities to foreign nations.

In one example provided by the Wall Street Journal, providers like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon could be required to redesign military aircrafts to be powered by lithium-ion batteries. China, meanwhile, controls the majority of the minerals used in lithium-ion batteries.

And if you thought the Biden administration would stop this push only at federal contractors – think again.

Biden’s climate ‘czar’ John Kerry has declared a willingness to see individual Americans pay climate reparations for the nation’s past pollution, while openly stating that the “green” movement must accelerate.
