President Joe Biden finally spoke the truth about his son Hunter, admitting he’s “proud of” the things he’s done, even as federal prosecutors close in on him over a number of crimes.
CNN’s Jake Tapper questioned Biden about the potential that Hunter will face serious criminal charges following reports that federal prosecutors gathered enough evidence “months ago” to charge Hunter with multiple crimes.
According to the reports Hunter is facing several tax crimes in addition to lying to federal agents about a gun purchase.
Tapper asked Biden how he reacts to the news about his son “personally and politically.”
“Well first of all, I’m proud of my son,” the president began. “This is a kid who got, not a kid he’s a grown man, he got hooked on, like many families have had happen, hooked on drugs. He’s overcome that, he’s established a new life.”
Perhaps the biggest bombshell from President Biden’s interview came when he said he’s not too worried about Hunter actually getting charged. The implication being he may be using his position of power to ensure that doesn’t happen.
“I’m confident that what he says and does are consistent with what happens,” Biden said.
“I have great confidence in my son,” he added. “I love him, and he’s on the straight and narrow, and he has been for a couple years now, and I’m just so proud of him.”
No charges have been brought against Hunter as of yet, but the scope of the criminal investigation has drastically grown since it began in 2018 as more and more crimes were uncovered – though Hunter and his family have committed much worse crimes which federal investigators seem keen on ignoring.
Former President Donald Trump called the tax and gun related crimes part of a “charade” to avoid any real charges being brought against Hunter for his more devious crimes which could even include espionage and treason.
Trump warned that any charges against Hunter would be a smoke screen to shield him from the real deal crimes found on his laptop.
“Now they’re leaking that they may actually be charging Hunter Biden with very minor charges relative to the crimes that he apparently committed. And look, we don’t want bad stuff to happen but they’re leaking that a couple of minor charges, relatively compared to the kind of charges that they could be. And that’s up to them,” Trump said.
“But are they actually going to do the right thing and hold the Bidens accountable or is this just a charade and an excuse to continue targeting me and our movement of make America great again and America First? I don’t know,” Trump added.
The former president then called out the federal agents handling Hunter’s criminal case, accusing them of “prosecutorial misconduct” suggesting that these minor charges could brought against Hunter to make the DOJ seem more ‘fair’ while they continue to target Trump and conservatives in general.
Trump continued, “I think I think they’re doing this for a little reason. I think they want to target us, and they make it look a little bit more fair when they throw out a couple of charges about Hunter. Now you know what’s happening. It’s a disgrace. What’s happening in this country, and it is prosecutorial misconduct. And the people in this country aren’t going to take it.”
