Democrat Congresswoman ABANDONS “Unrecognizable” Party of Leftists, Joins GOP

A longtime Democrat says she was forced to abandon the party with a switch over to the GOP, admitting that she has been abused by fellow Dems for trying to speak some sense into them.

North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham announced the switch saying the “modern-day Democratic party has become unrecognizable to me and others across the state and this country.”

Her decision to join the Republicans will have a profound effect on the state. It grants the GOP a supermajority in the state Congress which allows them to override vetoes from the governor, a Democrat.

She exposed that the leftists do not value free thought and the party wants groupthink to be the norm for their lawmakers.

“The party wants to villainize anyone who has free thought, free judgement, has solutions,” she said. “If you don’t do exactly what the Democrats want you to do they will try to bully you. They will try to cast you aside.”

“I will not be controlled by anyone,” she proclaimed.

Cotham said that extremist Democrats were attacking her in an effort to constantly pressure into voting with the Democrat caucus.

Democrats were doing everything from “blasting me on Twitter to calling me names, coming after my family, coming after my children.”

“That is wrong!” she said.

And it’s true, Democrat politicians are expected to fall in line and vote along party lines regardless of whether or not they believe in what they’re voting for. This had removed ANY sense of contrarianism in the left-wing party as leadership effectively uses representatives as minions expecting them to do as they’re told.

This is simply un-American!

But it’s obvious the Democrats aren’t very concerned with being pro-America. According to Cotham, the final straw for her was when Democrats began criticizing her display of an American flag and pray hand emojis on her vehicle and on social media.

Cotham missed votes last week citing “long Covid issues,” but in reality it may have been that she was sick of her party and refused to vote their way anymore.

Cotham was absent along with two other Dem Reps. Which granted the Republicans the ability to override a veto of a bill which removed some pistol permitting processes.

Now the GOP effectively controls the entire state of North Carolina based off of this single switch.

Republicans have held majorities in both the state House and the Senate for more than a decade, but Democrat Governor Roy Cooper has threatened to veto ANY impactful bill they try to pass. Now that has changed completely!

A supermajority could free up the GOP to push for things like legislation restricting abortion, enacting changes to election laws and much more.

Of course, Democrats are FUMING over Cotham’s switch.

North Carolina Democratic party chair Anderson Clayton released a joint statement with the Mecklenburg County Democrat party chair labeling Cotham’s switch “deceit of the highest order” and calling on her to resign.

“Rep Cotham’s decision is a betrayal to the people of HD-112 with repercussions not only for the people of her district, but for the entire state of North Carolina,” the statement reads. “If she can no longer represent the values her constituents trusted her to champion, she should resign immediately.”

That statement is rather ironic given that it’s the DEMOCRATS who have been betraying voters.

Americans are suffering and leadership on the left is more obsessed with pronoun propaganda and funding foreign wars – leaving regular citizens to struggle.

You would have to be insane to still support these left-wing lunatics, which is exactly why Cotham ditched them!
