Stop me if we’ve been down this road before: New York’s Democrat Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit which the left claims will ‘bring down Trump once and for all.’
James filed the lawsuit against President Donald Trump and his three grown children, accusing them of undervaluing properties to gain better rates on loans, insurance policies, and taxes.
James’s lawsuit is a civil case, not a criminal case and it looks to ban Trump and his family members mentioned in the suit, from serving as executives at any company in New York. It also aims to bar the Trump Organization from buying any commercial real estate or obtaining loans from financial institutions in New York for five years.
As if it wasn’t instantly obvious enough that this lawsuit is a desperate political ploy to slander Trump and “MAGA Republicans” associated with him, James has spent years investigating Trump but decided to file the lawsuit just 50 days before the mid-term elections.
President Trump responded by posting on Truth Social, “Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry.”
“I never thought this case would be brought,” he continued, “until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a ‘get Trump’ platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!”
Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, pointed out that the lawsuit is a purely political attack. “[R]ather, it is solely focused on advancing the Attorney General’s political agenda. It is abundantly clear that the Attorney General’s Office has exceeded its statutory authority by prying into transactions where absolutely no wrongdoing has taken place.”
“We are confident that our judicial system will not stand for this unchecked abuse of authority, and we look forward to defending our client against each and every one of the Attorney General’s meritless claims,” she said.
The president’s children also called out the lawsuit as a total fraud.
Donald Trump Jr. tweeted, “The bullshit Dem witch-hunt continues,” along with a video of James promising to sue Trump in the past.
Trump Jr. also tweeted another video of James calling Trump an “illegitimate president,” and saying she looked forward to “suing him and going home.”
James has also said that the only thing that matters to her is “defeating Donald Trump.”
“This president is an existential threat to all of us in this room…the number one issue in this country is defeating Donald Trump. Nothing else matters,” she said.
Eric Trump tweeted a compilation of her inflammatory remarks, adding: “Not a political “witch hunt?!” What a joke…”
According to the Washington Post, James is suing for more than $250 million and has referred possible violations of federal law to the Justice Department and the IRS.
The suit also names, in addition to Trump and his children, the Trump Organization and business executives Allen Weisselberg and controller Jeffrey McConney.
