Democrats New Bill Punishes Store Owner for Fleeing Crime

Cities where Democrat policies have gone unchecked have devolved into lawless hellholes overrun by crime and now the politicians that introduced those policies are being forced to come up with “solutions” – but somehow they may have actually found a way to make things WORSE!

San Francisco has been a prime example of this, proving to us just how dangerous it is to leave the Democrats in charge for too long.

Democrat-sponsored crime has transformed the once-bustling San Fran into a real-life version of Gotham City and not only have the police been rendered useless, but the politicians have also made it impossible for businesses to deter criminals from robbing them blind.

As a result, businesses have been RUNNING from the city as fast as possible in order to avoid economic ruin.

But now the Democrats new crime “solution” aims to punish the BUSINESSES for wanting to leave – NOT THE CRIMINALS who are actually committing the crimes.

Dean Preston, a far-left Democrat on the city’s Board of Supervisors, introduced something called the ‘Grocery Protection Act.’

This outrageous piece of legislation states that grocery stores that want to flee all the crime and other increased liabilities will be forced to provide the city with a minimum of six months advanced notice.

On top of that, these stores will be tasked with finding a replacement supermarket looking to take over the crime-infested space that they are looking to vacate!

The introduction of this Marxist legislation coincides with a recent decision by Whole Foods to shut down its flagship store in San Francisco, citing “employee safety concerns.”

This store only lasted in the chaotic city for just over a year thanks to workers frequently being threatened by criminals with weapons who would often take whatever they wanted from the store without paying.

Other reports suggested that staff would have to deal with locals throwing food at them, getting into fights with them, and even defecating on the floor.

There were also countless cases of drug overdoses occurring on site with one man dying in the bathroom after a fentanyl overdose. Nearly 570 emergency calls were logged from the location, including one call with desperate pleas to the police saying “male [with] machete is back,” and “another security guard was just assaulted.”

This is the type of behavior that leftists are refusing to punish, while trying to stop innocent business owners from escaping it – Welcome to life under Democrat rule!

Matt Dorsey, another far-leftist who previously served on the Board of Supervisors, claimed to be “incredibly disappointed” at the Whole Foods closing, adding that the neighborhood “waited a long time for this supermarket.”

Preston, meanwhile, argued that the community needs “notice, an opportunity to be heard and a transition plan when major neighborhood grocery stores plan to shut their doors.”

Under Preston’s plan, stores who fail to provide adequate notice could be sued by ANYONE “impacted” by the store closures – including the criminals who are stealing from them while holding the employees at knife-point.

It’s unclear whether or not this will apply to other store closures like the large retailers who have been abandoning the city for similar reasons – but it wouldn’t be entirely surprising considering the Democrats would rather do literally ANYTHING OTHER than punish criminals.

If we let them, the Democrats will turn every single city in America into the communist nightmare that San Francisco has become.
