Elizabeth Warren Promises Debt Forgiveness to Students

In Animal Farm, the famous children’s political allegory by George Orwell written in 1945, the pigs promised that all animals would be treated fairly because “all animals are equal, (but some are more equal than others).” Of course, what ends up happening is total chaos as the pigs try to divert more recourses to themselves, even to the point of moving into the exiled farmer’s house. All the while, the rest of the animals subsist on what little the pigs deign to leave for them.

The lesson of the story is that those who believe they know how people should live better than the people themselves inevitably hold the people in contempt. Power seekers who wish to impose a top-down system of wealth redistribution must also impose this system by force. As you can imagine, people who’ve earned their money won’t just hand it over willingly. There will be chaos, there will be fighting, and there will be bloodshed.

This is the inevitable result of the promises of 2020 candidates like Elizabeth Warren. She promises if you elect her, she will turn America into chaos and flip the wealth from those who’ve earned it and give it to those who haven’t.

She, of course, has promised to maintain, promote, and grow the welfare state. She has shown a keen interest in all manner of handouts from Medicaid to more undeliverable social security schemes. She’s even promised the hate mongering Al Sharpton that she would support reparations. Despite the fact that no one knows anyone who was alive during slavery- if Warren is elected- you may be expected to pay a tax to be handed over to people who were never enslaved.

If the statement, “some are more equal than others” could be apter, we don’t know how.

But Warren’s promises don’t stop there. Now, she is promising college debt forgiveness. According to Zero Hedge, “The plan would eliminate as much as $50,000 in student loan debt for anyone who makes less than $100,000 a year.

The forgiveness amounts would diminish for those whose incomes fall between $100,000 and $250,000 (That’s $1 of relief for every $3 earned). No debt forgiveness would be available to those who earn over $250,000.”

Last week, Warren tweeted, “Student loan debt is crushing millions of families. That’s why I’m calling for something truly transformational: Universal free college and the cancellation of debt for more than 95% of Americans with student loan debt.”

This is wonderful. If you’re a student who can’t find work or is unwilling to pay your own way through college- then you will have a clear road to have all your college paid for as long as you stay under a certain earnings bracket for a time being. After your loans are paid off though, you’re free to accept that high paying position.

At the same time, you’ll be able to point and laugh at all the suckers who paid their own ways through college and worked overtime to do their schooling and hold a job at the same time.

This would be a major slap in the face of anyone who intends to maintain independence from the government and predatory college lending programs.

Warren writes, “Once we’ve cleared out the debt that’s holding down an entire generation of Americans, we must ensure that we never have another student debt crisis again.”

Warren has also announced that she would push to abolish the Electoral College as well as state filibuster. These are longstanding protections put in place by the founders to stop the majority from steamrolling the minority in elections and in the chambers of government.

We’ve written before how the electoral college makes it impossible for the people of New York (for example) to vote to have all the people of Maryland forfeit their savings accounts to New Yorkers. It is a system that protects small states from being eaten up by large state through a tyranny of the majority.

The filibuster makes it possible for a single senator to at least stall a unanimous action that he or she believes is unjust.

But the left does not believe in solitary voices. They believe in the rights of the group to control the few. It is evil, shortsighted, and proof positive that Animal Farm should be required reading.
