Look, everyone! Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are fighting with each other! What a convenient distraction from the fact that Joe Biden’s approval rating with the American people is now slightly lower than a tapeworm.
If you’ve been following this alleged Trump-DeSantis feud at all the past few days, you may have noticed that there are no actual people being quoted in the stories. It’s always an “anonymous source” from Trump’s inner circle saying one thing and then an “anonymous source” from DeSantis’ office with the riposte. Kind of reminds you of all those “anonymous sources” who spent three years feeding the media fake information about Russia collusion, doesn’t it?
Are Trump and DeSantis really fighting with each other behind the scenes? I have no idea. But I do know that both Trump and DeSantis have publicly said this is a controversy being ginned up by the fake news media. So, there’s that.
Would a 2024 primary clash between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis be a bad thing? Not at all! Iron sharpens iron. How blessed are we that we could have Donald Trump himself, and the #1 America First governor running in a couple of years? A Trump-DeSantis matchup (and there will be other GOPers running as well) is exactly what both of these gentlemen need in order to take back the White House for America.
Neither Trump nor DeSantis is entitled to our votes in 2024. They must earn that privilege. Trump obviously has an advantage in this contest, but there is no guarantee that he will be the nominee.
For example, for Trump to win my vote again, he as to answer two crucial questions.
First, Mr. Trump, how do you plan to overcome the hiring and staffing challenges that nearly derailed your first term in office?
Good grief, Trump had people working on the National Security Council that testified against him in the fake Ukraine phone call impeachment. That never happens in a Democrat administration. Enemies are sniffed out and fired on the first day. And yet Trump inexplicably had Obama holdovers working in key positions throughout the White House. That can’t happen again, and I want to know how he plans to solve that problem.
Second, Mr. Trump, will you actually finish building the wall and sign the anchor baby executive order that you promised in your first term?
I don’t care how many obstacles the courts or the Democrats or the media throw in your way. As the Commander in Chief, you have tremendous power to enact policies to protect America from foreign threats. The wall should be completed in the first two to three months of your next term, with no excuses. And the anchor baby executive order? That’s about five minutes of work, tops.
And one more thing. How many times in the past six months have I said that Trump needs to shut up about the COVID not-vaccines? More than I can remember. This is Trump’s Achilles heel, and he needs to wake up to it. I’m baffled that he seems to be oblivious to the fact that about two-thirds of his base is on the opposite side of this issue now. Trump needs to become the MAGA warrior that he was in 2016 if he hopes to sail to the nomination again. No one wants to hear him running around and sounding like Donnie the Junior Pharmaceutical Sales Rep.
And as for Ron DeSantis? Did I miss the part where he has ever hinted that he plans to run for president? While the media is fixated on DeSantis as a viable threat to the Democrat Party, DeSantis has never said he’s running in 2024.
DeSantis has two major battles in the way before he can even think about running in 2024. His wife is battling cancer right now, and DeSantis is running for reelection in Florida next year. If he loses his wife or his reelection bid, I can’t imagine a scenario in which he’d be able to run for president.
With all that being said, I would eagerly cast a vote for either Trump or DeSantis in 2024 if one of them ends up being the nominee. They’ve both shown great leadership, unwaivering support of Republican policies, loyalty to the American worker, and both are especially adept at challenging the mainstream media’s lies while accomplishing great things for the voters. And as for whether the two are actually fighting with each other? The whole thing sounds like fake news.
