Well I suppose it was only a matter of time! Ever since Elon Musk purchased Twitter and removed many of the shackles that the platform had placed on conservative voices, leftists have been absolutely CLAMMORING for one of the other Big Tech platforms to usurp Twitter and its commitment to free and fair speech– and they may have just gotten their wish.
Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has launched a new social media platform that is being touted by the left as the “Twitter Killer,” but what they REALLY mean to say is that the platform has the potential to ERADICATE the small taste of free speech that conservatives are able to have on Elon’s Twitter.
According to Meta, more than 30 million people have signed up for ‘Threads’, the company’s Twitter competitor.
Threads is directly linked to Meta-owned Instagram, which has over 2 billion users. The Twitter competitor is being rolled out in over 100 countries for iOS and Android.
“The goal is to keep it friendly as it expands. I think it’s possible and will ultimately be the key to its success,” wrote Zuckerberg in a Wednesday post, casting the service as a more wholesome substitute to Twitter. “That’s one reason why Twitter never succeeded as much as I think it should have, and we want to do it differently.”
But while the Meta platform is parading itself as some “friendly” newcomer, Threads IMMEDIATELY began secretly censoring its users upon launch.
Journalist Michael Shellenberger wrote,” Meta is already too powerful. One company controls what much of the public is allowed to see. And if Threads succeeds, it will have 80% of the global market outside of Russia and China, according to one industry insider.”
Shellenberger, who was one of the Twitter Files journalists, continued by saying “As such, it’s reasonable to expect that Meta will censor precisely the same way the large news media corporations, including the New York Times, and corporate advertisers want it to. More censorship is what the mainstream news media, big corporations, and their celebrity pitch people have been demanding.”
Popular conservatives pointed out that their profiles were immediately censored after signing up for the Twitter clone.
Conservative influencer Rogan O’Hanley revealed that he posted one time about “wanting to expose Biden’s corrupt government” and his account was instantly flagged as one that spreads ‘misinformation.’
Threads then flashed a warning to users attempting to follow his account, “Are you sure you want to follow…?” Threads asked. “This account has repeatedly posted false information.”
As if the censorship wasn’t enough reason to be concerned about the rise of this new Meta app, Threads is also said to be harvesting user’s private data en masse.
Ironically enough, leftist Twitter founder Jack Dorsey pointed out that Threads uniquely collects data about things like “Health & Fitness,” “Financial Info,” “Sensitive Info” and “Other Data.” – whatever “Other Data” means.
