Despite their apparent differences, the growing cast of Democrat presidential hopefuls has one definite thing in common. With the surprising exception of Bernie Sanders, they all support “open borders” along with an amnesty for illegal immigrants.
Though the mainstream media is determined to pitch the likes of socialist leaning Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Beto O’Rourke as the new voice of the majority of America, a new Rasmussen poll shows that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The new poll shows that at least 67% of voters see illegal immigration as a “serious problem.”
That isn’t the first tracking poll that shows American voters don’t agree with Democrats unwillingness to call illegal immigration what it is – a crisis that we must deal with—and fast.
Rasmussen asked four pointed questions of those who are likely to vote:
- How serious a problem is illegal immigration in America today?
- Do most Democrats in Congress want to slow or stop illegal immigration?
- Do most Republicans in Congress want to slow or stop illegal immigration?
- Should the United States halt foreign aid to Mexico and governments in Central America that refuse to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into this country?
Contrary to the Democrat Party’s stance, the results of the Rasmussen poll show that Americans are weary of what President Trump rightly calls an “illegal invasion.”
Almost three-fourths of those polled see immigration as a “serious problem” and 47 percent said whats happening at our Southern border is a “very serious problem.”
Less than a third, 32 percent, agree with the Democrat mantra that illegal immigration is “not a serious problem” and a paltry 8 percent said the issue is “not at all serious.”
Rasmussen reported this bottom line conclusion based on the results of their poll, “Voters continue to view illegal immigration as a serious problem but don’t think Democrats want to stop it. Cutting foreign aid is one tool voters are willing to consider.”
So why don’t leading Democrats see what is obvious to a vast majority of voters?
One theory that’s been suggested is because Democrat lawmakers live in gated communities in affluent areas of Washington D.C. and “live as elitist.” They don’t worry day in and day out as they walk down streets protected by Secret Service about MS-13 gang members.
As the Conservative Daily Post notes, “They don’t care that towns are being overrun by illegals who have no desire to abide by American law because they live with security guards and other protections paid for by the taxpayer.”
Instead of listening to voters like those polled by Rasmussen, Nancy Pelosi is set on defeating anything put forward by our elected President. She announced last Thursday that House Democrats plan to block Trump’s emergency funds transfer for border barrier construction with a lawsuit. In effect, Pelosi is suing the President for doing what voters elected him to do – secure our borders.
Pelosi claims, “The President’s action clearly violates the Appropriations Clause by stealing from appropriated funds, an action that was not authorized by constitutional or statutory authority.”
She added, “The House will once again defend our Democracy and our Constitution, this time in the courts. No one is above the law or the Constitution, not even the President.”
Funny how politicians appeal to a document they don’t believe in, ignorantly label our form of government a democracy, and discredit Trump’s edicts as “illegal.”
To set the record straight: The United States is NOT a democracy. It is a federal republic.
Pelosi went on to say, “Congress, as Article I — the first branch, co-equal to the other branches — must reassert its exclusive responsibilities reserved by the text of the Constitution and protect our system of checks and balances.”
The President’s authority is clearly defined in the Constitution and has been ruled legal by the nation’s duly appointed U.S. Attorney General, William Barr.
Ironic, since Pelosi had no problem with former President Obama’s declaration of illegal amnesty as well as a litany of other illegal actions.
Now, with criminal aliens flooding our southern border in record numbers, Democrats appear to believe most voters don’t know an emergency when they see one.
Rather than heed the wishes of American voters, Pelosi and Democrats see the only emergency in our country as President Trump and his American first agenda.
Can’t they see encouraging criminal behavior risks the lives of American citizens and the very fabric of our society?
