In a sign of great hope for America’s future, both Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have been censured by their state Republican parties. It’s about time that people on the right started fighting for America with the ferocity that Democrats fight against America.
Good grief, the Democrats are already kicking Trump supporters out of the military. And yet, we are not supposed to impose purity tests on our members? Bravo to Wyoming and Kentucky Republicans, because they are illuminating the pro-Trump path out of communism for our country.
Liz Cheney, you no doubt remember, just voted to impeach President Trump. The backlash against that selfish and foolish move on her part has been fierce. As the Chair of the Republican House Conference, she’s the third-highest ranking Republican in the Congress. And yet she was too beholden to the Swamp Uniparty that she couldn’t even hold her finger up and in air and see which direction the wind is blowing in America.
After voting to impeach Donald Trump, Cheney was immediately censured by Republicans in her home state. Trump won Wyoming by an overwhelming margin, drawing about three times as many votes as Joe Biden.
Yet when House Democrats impeached Donald Trump without even holding hearings or presenting any evidence against him of “inciting an insurrection,” (because there isn’t any evidence) Cheney trotted across the aisle to vote with the Democrats. She even violated the Republican House Conference rules to do this.
Two Republican candidates in Wyoming have already filed paperwork to primary Liz Cheney in 2022. But she might not even make it to that point.
More than half of the members of the Republican House Conference are now backing an effort to remove Cheney from her powerful seat. She’s lost the confidence of a majority of her own caucus, so I’d expect there will be a “No Confidence” vote in her very soon. The only question remaining is whether she will trot across the aisle again and switch to her actual preferred party.
Even more amazingly, Mitch McConnell has been officially censured by local Republicans in his home state! McConnell has done his fair share of enraging his own base this month as well.
We all watched in stunned amazement as McConnell took to the Senate floor to denounce the Capitol LARPers for the January 6 kerfuffle. McConnell called it an “insurrection” and denounced President Trump for “provoking a riot.”
I’m getting tired of pointing it out, but when nations go through an actual insurrection, none of the insurrectionists dress up in a Captain America costume and wave a QAnon flag. They don’t wear a Chewbacca bikini or a buffalo helmet or a bear costume. And they don’t politely walk between the velvet ropes in the statuary hall without wrecking anything.
But Mitch McConnell is too much of a swamp creature to realize this and he’s offended that a bunch of people having some fun interrupted the “holy sanctuary” of the US Senate, which he views as his personal institution. Mitch McConnell failed to denounce the fraudulent 2020 election results. He’s never even mentioned the possibility that there was fraud or acknowledged that his constituents – like the vast majority of Americans – believe that the election was decided by fraud. And he certainly didn’t do anything to prevent that fraudulent election from being certified.
McConnell is so cowardly that he won’t even announce how he’s going to vote in the fraudulent impeachment trial in the Senate. As we don’t know, after McConnell skipped President Trump’s going-away party to go to church with Kevin McCarthy and Champion-of-the-Unborn Joe Biden.
Nelson County, Kentucky GOP Chairman Don Nelson noted, “We felt today, during his floor speech on the Senate where he impugned the character of President Trump, was unacceptable to us. His whole behavior overall through this whole process of the last week is not consistent with what he promised us when he was running for reelection.”
This is the way forward for the GOP. The local parties need to viciously impose pro-Trump, America First litmus tests. Name one Democrat that would dare to stray from their party’s abortion orthodoxy. Right… short list, isn’t it? Republicans in Congress either need to start showing some loyalty to their own voters and this movement, or we need to start booting them out at the local level.
