Former President Donald Trump released a statement Sunday in response to a new poll by CBS News. The statement strongly hits at what many are asking for—a 2024 Trump presidential run.
The statement read, “Breaking News! New polling by CBS News on the state of the Republican Party (which is very strong!). ‘President Trump has a strong hold on the GOP.’ 80% of Republicans agree with the removal of Liz Cheney from GOP Leadership and only 20% disagree. The poll also showed that 67% of Republicans said that they do not consider Sleepy Joe Biden to be the legitimate winner of the 2020 Presidential Election. I agree with them 100%, just look at the facts and the data—there is no way he won the 2020 Presidential Election!”
His words hit several key topics. First, Trump addressed the CBS News report that he is still the leader of the GOP. Despite unending attacks against the former president by the left and mainstream media, his favorability among Republicans remains strong.
Second, Trump highlighted the recent leadership removal of Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney. The report noted 80 percent agreed with her removal among Republicans. Cheney had stuck her foot in her mouth one too many times and had lost the support of her fellow Republicans. They voted her out and voters were thrilled.
Third, he quoted the statistic that 67 percent of Republicans, more than two-thirds, do not consider Joe Biden the legitimate winner of the 2020 presidential election. Trump not only quoted the statistic as positive—he said he agrees with them 100 percent!
Trump concluded the statement with the words “there is no way he won the 2020 Presidential Election!” The strong words may reflect his thoughts after watching the latest updates regarding the election audit process taking place in Maricopa County, Arizona. Joe Biden narrowly won the county by only 10,000 votes. The recount in Maricopa came out after multiple irregularities were reported. They are currently a quarter of the way through a manual hand count of all the votes in Maricopa and very well could flip the state from Biden to Trump when all is said and done.
However, Democrats have sought to shut down the Republican audit in every seemingly possible manner. From lawsuits to false accusations to kicking auditors out of the convention center for high school graduation ceremonies, the left seems to be strangely opposed to recounting votes in a location they argue they won fair and square.
The push back has led many to consider why Democrats are pushing so hard to shut down audits and recounts if they did nothing wrong. If every vote was legally cast, wouldn’t Democrats be glad to vindicate themselves through an audit? The fact that they are not worries many who want elections to be fair—regardless of their party affiliation.
You can expect 2024’s election will have Democrats accusing Trump of being a sore loser who won’t quit and go home. Yet many America-loving conservatives would gladly support another Trump run—believing he has the votes and only needs a more secure election to return to the White House.
